Well, the day yesterday was going smoothly and all was good. The boys each had 3 hour naps, at different times though, we had fun workin on homework and Occupational therapy... I had dinner in the oven so I could feed the boys early. Then Cody and I had plans to go to Vacation Bible School with Karol and her children in Spring Arbor. Well something took place that I am sure was a way of God intervening .... all changed in just a few seconds. I was in the kitchen, Cody just got up from his 3 hour nap (this is not a typical nap but I was glad I/he had the quite time). Brady was playing and crawling. I instructed Cody to go to the bathroom to do his business before he was allowed to watch tv and have a snack. Brady followed as he typically does. Well, big brother is not a happy fellow when he wakes up, so he decided to slam the bathroom door in Brady's face. Little did he know that his finger was there too! Yes his finger was in the door jam. I came running down the hallway and obviously started caring for Brady. He typically does not cry for very long. But you know this really hurt, and it looked pretty beat up. I called Ken, who was riding with his carpool lady. Ken was stuck in traffic and was not going anywhere. I thought for sure I needed to get Brady to the hospital. I did not know what to do. I put ice on it, and gave him tylenol right away. He was still crying. I called Karol to let her know I was not going to make it to VBS. Ken ususally gets home around 5:35 like clock work... so I knew he was going to come home any minute.... then he texts me! I was furious, when I am in crisis, please dont text me! I need to talk to someone! LOLOL. I called him and he said the traffic was stopped he was going no where fast. I called my neighbor Kathie, she was not home, so I called another neighbor Becky, she came over and helped calm me, and said it should be fine and to keep ice on it and she also spoke with Cody and gave some helpful reminders of closing the doors slowly. Thanks Becky! Even after all the first aid training and such, I still felt I needed to have someone else tell me it was going to be ok. Brady cried for another 20+ minutes and finally, fell asleep from exhaustion. We were all calming down. Ken was finally home after 6pm. He and I ate dinner and regrouped. Of all times, having only one car, well that was kind of scarry and thankfully we have some really helpful neighbors.
Speaking of neighbors, on to our next part of God's plan, Ken went outside to play with Cody
and help him process the event. They went over to Larry & Kathie's house to play on the playset and Kathie was out in the garden picking vegtables. She had her nephew Jeff over for a few days. I was in the house rocking Brady because he had woke up crying again. He was sleeping on my chest and I started to watch the Olympics. Ken and Cody came in with some tomatoes and eggplants from Kathie. Then Ken took the basket back out to Kathie in the garden. Ken came back and said, you need to go check on Kathie, she is not acting herself. She does have Diabetes and when her sugar gets out of whack, she slows down and needs someone with her. We have had to go over there on other occasions. Thank goodness we are able to help each other out, when the time is urgent. Kathie was having a diabetic attack. I went and helped her regain her strength and get her sugars back where needed. Her husband Larry is in California on vacation/fishing trip.
This is how God knew, I needed to just be at home one to take care of Brady and Cody too. Then to be there for Kathie in her time of need. I guess I learned my lesson for the day... be ready you never know when God is going to need you to be HIS guiding angel.
The other good thing, about this, I was able to take Cody and Brady to a Vacation Bible School in Eaton Rapids this morning. We hope to be able to go Thursday and Friday too. Wednesday we will be taking Brady to the Dr. in Grand Rapids and then spending the rest of the day at the Zoo. God is definitely with us today and yesterday! and I know HE will be there tomorrow!
Brady's finger looks better today and does not seem to bother him. His nail is completely off, but hopefully it will grow back eventually.
No pictures today, just my lovely thoughts!~ Next time.
