About Me

My photo
Here is a glimpse of what I do and love... my family and social networks. I have been a social worker for 17 years. I love scrapbooking, camping, being creative and most of all my life as a mom.

I love being a mom

Today was Columbus day! Ken got it off for the upteen time of a "government holiday". I went to work. Then a funeral of a man Curt in our church. We happened to know him and his wife. I must say, it was a beautiful celebration of his life, just as he wanted it to be. Several people spoke of memories and it was such a blessing to hear what people who knew him for a long time, it was exactly my thoughts, and I have only known him for a short period. He was a man of true stature, who loved Jesus Christ and loved to hugged! I too have been hugged by him and he is a big teddy bear with passion for life! I came away from the funeral with a wonderful sense of just the blessings God has given us on earth... and for me that is being a mom. I also want to take the challenge from Curt's son and nephew that we need to shine and hug lots! I love to hug too. And you know, when I came and picked up Cody from day care, the first thing he did was run up to me and give me such a big loving hug! Then Brady smiled and snuggled right in my arms and hugged me as he does! This was the best part of my day.

Another highlight was when on my way home a good friend Heather, called me and invited our family out for dinner. It was spontaneous and just what we needed, to hang out and fellowship with friends. Well, getting there was a bit challenging. After the ride home, I think Cody was looking forward to just hanging out at home (like we usually do after work/school). So when I told him we were going to see his friend Josiah, Heather and Dan... well he broke down and went into a fit. So Ken and Cody stayed home, I went and had dinner. It was so nice outside we sat outside at Reidy's Pizza since the China Buffet was closed being it a monday. Josiah is almost 2 (4 month younger than Cody), and it was refreshing to know we are not the only family who has an active 2 year old and is sometimes embrassing in public. Actually I thought Josiah did a great job and seemed to enjoy eating the breadsticks with marinara sauce or the other way around... I thank Heather for thinking about calling and following through with her thoughts. I really enjoyed myself and Brady too had a fun time watching Josiah run and play. Plus we got to enjoy the evening sitting on the patio area outside, overlooking the river. Nice night and a beautiful sunset( something Curt was fond of as well) ... what a way to end the day...

Well, actually when I got home, Cody greeted me again with a BIG hug and we played some and he showed me how he likes to run and jump and play with his blocks... thanks to Aunt Karol who got the foam ones verses the wooden ones!!!! I think even Pauly suggested that Cody would like the foam ones better! And he surely does. Next Cody was taking pictures with a disposable camera... this was funny to watch and he got a kick out of it. We (ken and I) were trying to show him how to look through the "view finder" and point it at the subject. Well I bet 90% of the pictures are of something on the floor or ceiling or anything other than the subject he intended. we had fun anyways and laughed so much. Then as I said it was time for reading books and going night night, Cody came and snuggled me and hugged me. Brady was in his crib and starting to fall asleep... This is now a quite night as both are nestled in bed and I sit and type for the night. What a blessing it is to be a mom. Watch for pictures from Cody's world (after I get them developed of course).... Then we will plan on making it into a scrapbook for him to laugh at years from now. For now here are a few from our recent adventures....
